Temple Univ. Harrisburg – Lunch & Learn Webinar: Finding Your Cause
August 19 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
FreeJoin Temple University Harrisburg for their Lunch & Learn webinar series – Finding Your Cause: Building Purpose, Partnerships, and Influence for Change.
Many people care deeply about issues affecting their communities but may be unsure where to begin or how to turn passion into meaningful action. This session invites participants to explore the advocate within by identifying the causes that matter most to them, examining the values that drive their engagement, and learning how to build partnerships that support positive change.
Attendees will reflect on their advocacy journey, discuss characteristics of effective advocates, explore how to evaluate potential partners and organizations, and consider the role of continuous learning in sustaining community impact. Participants will leave with greater clarity about their priorities, purpose, and potential role in creating change
The session will be facilitated by Brian Jones, Board-Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA), Certified Community Health Worker (CCHW), educator, and community advocate. He serves as an instructor for Temple University Harrisburg’s virtual Community Health Worker Certificate Program and is certified in Mental Health First Aid for both youth and adults. Brian serves as a national mentor for men with prostate cancer through ZERO Prostate Cancer and is a member of the Pennsylvania Prostate Cancer Coalition Board of Directors. He is a co-author of research examining barriers to prostate cancer clinical trial participation among Black and African American populations and serves on the Flatiron Health Scientific Advisory Board.
